Too often the excavation of a hill becomes an eyesore when one looks at it from above. Atelier Manferdini’s tennis court design re-establishes the importance of natural settings, and seeks to reintroduce its colors into the view from the villa guest house. Nature is not represented in its organic state, but rather as a color abstraction. The tennis court chromatic scheme merges into the lavender and yellow tones of the surrounding landscape design.
Tione tennis court plays with the idea of transparencies, overlays and merges into the colorful surroundings. The graphic choice of the proposal originates from Josef Albers interactive color exercises. Albers developed an experimental way of studying color; a method based on the idea that only by observing color in context can one begin to understand the nature of color.
