AD California Dreaming, 2023
California Dreaming explores California’s long-standing role as a catalyst for radical architectural thinking. From émigré architects of the 1920s to mid-century Modernism and today’s cross-pollination with film, aerospace, and tech industries, the issue examines how the cultural axis between Los Angeles and the Bay Area has shaped globally influential architectural practices and pedagogies.
The issue also includes “In the Mood for Love: Chromophilia Unbound” by Jasmine Benyamin. In the essay, Benyamin examines the chromatically ambitious designs of Atelier Manferdini, focusing on how their visually saturated projects animate both building interiors and urban streetscapes.
