The Unknown is central to the mission of the Colorado State University Clark Building. Discovery and wonder are essential to imagination, growth, and meaning. we do not want to live in a world where the unknown is extinct. Known as “America’s Mountain,” Pikes Peak, towering over 14,000 feet, is a majestic landmark in Colorado Springs that inspires visitors with its stunning beauty and iconic presence. It has captivated generations with its breathtaking views and the challenge of reaching its summit.
Its view embodies the sublime — the awe, fear, and beauty that arise in the face of vast, untamed nature — provoking emotional and philosophical reflection on humanity’s place in the universe. The artwork captures the shifting moods of Colorado mountains, portraying their majestic peaks across different times of day.
