PURPLE HAZE, IQHQ-RaDD, 2024
Purple Haze are two large digitally printed landscapes—that wrap the two IQHQ-RaDD garage exits. The artwork gently camouflages the two structures into the surrounding landscapes. The artwork features clusters of lilac-blue flowers that appear in late spring, creating a striking contrast of colors that can be seen throughout the city. The stunning piece consists of jacaranda trees that blend real and manmade nature with abstract and figural representation, offering a contemporary interpretation of a traditional landscape painting at an architectural scale. Jacaranda trees in 2000 became the official (non-native) plant of San Diego.
